La Policía Nacional de Ecuador respondió con rapidez al incidente en el canal TC Televisión, el cual fue tomado por un grupo de hombres encapuchados durante una transmisión en vivo.
En una acción efectiva, la policía detuvo a 13 individuos y aseguró el desalojo de los trabajadores del medio televisivo que estaban retenidos. Se reportó una persona herida durante la intervención.Este suceso ocurrió en un contexto en el que Ecuador declaró un estado de excepción por sesenta días, con toque de queda nocturno y madrugada. La medida se adoptó debido a la crisis carcelaria y a informes sobre la posible fuga de un recluso considerado uno de los más peligrosos del país.
El presidente ecuatoriano, Daniel Noboa, anticipó la firma del decreto ejecutivo del estado de excepción a través de un mensaje en Instagram.
El decreto incluye restricciones a la libertad de tránsito, con un toque de queda de seis horas, desde las 11:00 p.m. hasta las 5:00 a.m. El artículo 7 del decreto establece la restricción de la libertad de tránsito durante el toque de queda, advirtiendo que aquellos que violen estas medidas serán puestos a órdenes de la autoridad judicial competente.
